The Center for Airborne Pathogen Research and Tuberculosis Imaging (CAPRI) at the Naresh K. Vashisht College of Medicine is a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional organization that combines the expertise of researchers who investigate pathogens that are principally transmitted via an aerosol route.
Center for Community Health and Aging
The Center for Community Health and Aging at the School of Public Health aims to increase the capacity of individuals, institutions and communities to improve population health and aging well across the life course utilizing a community health development approach and multi-level evidence-based solution.
Center for Craniofacial Research & Diagnosis
The mission of the Center for Craniofacial Research & Diagnosis at the College of Dentistry is to increase our understanding of normal and pathological craniofacial biology leading to better patient treatment of the craniofacial region. Organizationally, the center represents a consortium of both internal and external related, but independent research programs that share a common interest in basic craniofacial biology with the translational goal of new treatments.
Center for Epigenetics and Disease Prevention
The mission of the Center for Epigenetics & Disease Prevention at the Institute of Biosciences and Technology is to identify novel protective agents from natural sources and, via a new “field-to-clinic” paradigm, test for efficacy in human subjects. Epigenetics research is at the frontier of biomedical research, and the epigenome is one of the most promising targets for disease prevention.
Center for Genomics and Precision Medicine
The Center for Genomics and Precision Medicine at the Institute of Biosciences and Technology advances personalized medicine in ways that positively impact health care at the level of individuals and populations, transferring biomedical research discoveries to the classroom, clinic and marketplace.
Center for Health and Nature
The Center for Health and Nature is a collaboration between Houston Methodist, Texan by Nature and Texas A&M Health that drives research to study the impact of nature on health with evidence-based programs that complement the full continuum of health care: prevention, treatment and recovery.
Center for Health Equity and Evaluation Research
The Center for Health Equity and Evaluation Research (CHEER) at the School of Public Health leverages innovative health equity research to improve quality of life and health outcomes across the lifespan among at-risk populations globally. The center conducts program evaluation through a health equity lens for state, nation and private agencies to improve health outcomes in disenfranchised communities and socially marginalized populations.
Center for Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases
The Center for Infectious and Inflammatory Disease at the Institute of Biosciences and Technology is interested in understanding the molecular details of pathogenic microorganisms to design strategies to block the attack molecules of the microbe and boost the defense systems of the challenged host. The goal is to develop novel strategies and products to prevent and treat infectious diseases.
Center for Translational Cancer Research
The mission of the Center for Translational Cancer Research at the Institute of Biosciences and Technology is to promote the translation of discoveries in cancer cell biology into interventions of value in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Center for Worker Health
The Center for Worker Health at the School of Public Health helps industry and health care partners increase their competitiveness by improving worker performance, reducing workplace injuries and illnesses, and designing unique products and applications to combat the negative impacts of aging and obesity.
Center of Excellence in Cancer Research
Established in 2022, the Center of Excellence in Cancer Research supports innovative cancer research across the university, with a focus on gene-environment-lifestyle interactions. Backed by the Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT), the center develops early-career investigators, attracts top researchers, and cultivates a collaborative environment for impactful discoveries.
Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing
Established to support people who experience violence across the lifespan, the Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing at the College of Nursing facilitates interprofessional collaborations to offer unsurpassed research and training opportunities by providing forensic nursing education and outreach for nurses, other medical professionals, law enforcement, attorneys, social workers and advocates.
Southwest Rural Health Research Center
The Southwest Rural Health Research Center at the School of Public Health is one of only nine federally funded research centers by the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Federal Office of Rural Health Policy. The center focuses on conducting policy relevant research on meeting the needs of special rural populations, minority populations and health disparities (including border populations), and rural systems building.
The USA Center for Rural Public Health Preparedness
The USA Center for Rural Public Health Preparedness at the School of Public Health is designed to ensure public health professionals are able to respond to threats to the nation’s public health. The USA Center is charged with supporting and developing the skills and competencies of emergency responders in rural areas of the United States.

Cardiovascular Research Institute
The Cardiovascular Research Institute at the Naresh K. Vashisht College of Medicine fosters communication and collaboration among faculty involved in cardiovascular research, education and training. The major objective of this institute is to discover and disseminate new knowledge about the heart, blood vessels and lymphatics in normal and disease states.
Clinical Science and Translational Research Institute
The Clinical Science and Translational Research (CSTR) Institute at the Naresh K. Vashisht College of Medicine is a multi-institutional initiative of Texas A&M University and Texas A&M Health, and their affiliates, in partnership with Houston Methodist Hospital and Research Institute, to promote the highest quality clinical and translational research across Texas A&M and its partner institutions and train the next generation of researchers capable of expediting the application of biomedical advances into patient care and improved population health.
Institute for Healthcare Access
The Institute for Healthcare Access brings together professionals in health and law to frame and advance solutions to the most significant problems that hinder access to timely, effective, affordable health care for individuals and communities.
Institute for Regenerative Medicine
The Institute for Regenerative Medicine (IRM) was established in August 2008 as a joint venture between the Naresh K. Vashisht College of Medicine, Scott & White Hospital (currently Baylor Scott & White Hospital), and the Temple Bioscience District. The goal of the institute is to bridge the gap between basic science and clinical translation in the field of regenerative medicine and experimental cell therapeutics. Through active collaboration between basic scientists and clinicians in Central Texas, the IRM hopes to tackle the ambitious task of discovering novel therapies for intractable diseases to relieve human suffering.
Institute of Biosciences and Technology
Researchers at the Institute of Biosciences and Technology in Houston work to improve the quality of health care through innovative research and education. The institute is organized into centers of research excellence in cancer, genomics and disease, developmental biology and birth defects, and infectious disease.
Institute of Pharmacology and Neurotherapeutics
The Institute of Pharmacology and Neurotherapeutics is established with a vision to position Texas A&M Health as the leader in developing new therapies for brain disorders, leveraging state-of-the-art facilities, training programs, resources and neuroscience teams across Texas A&M System units. The institute is enhancing the university's prominence in neurotherapeutic segments of civilian and military medicine.
Rural and Community Health Institute
The Rural and Community Health Institute is a health extension center offering programs that promote safe, effective health care practices. The institute serves as a bridge for health care professionals and their organizations with academic centers, policymakers and researchers to improve the quality and safety of patient care. For some small community or rural facilities that may find it difficult to produce certain programs and services on their own, the institute provides simple solutions.
Telehealth Institute
The Texas A&M Health Telehealth Institute advances telehealth through pioneering service delivery, policy-relevant research and state-of-the-art technology development. As a collaborative initiative across Texas A&M Health's colleges, the institute is driven by a mission to address disparities in access to high-quality health care. It extends critical telehealth services to patients in rural Texas counties and actively shapes the future of health care by training the next generation of telehealth professionals across multiple disciplines.
Texas A&M and Driscoll Children’s Hospital Global Institute for Hispanic Health
The Global Institute for Hispanic Health advances the health of the Hispanic community, ensuring the needs of the population are addressed when developing new drugs and life-saving therapies. It is closely tied to the Texas A&M Healthy South Texas initiative to improve the health of rural populations throughout the state.
