From Global Relief to Texas Impact
For years, the BUILD student organization at Texas A&M University has sent converted shipping containers around the world—each one transformed into a mobile medical clinic that delivers care where it's needed most. Now, through a new partnership with Texas A&M Health, that same spirit of service is being directed closer to home.
Together, BUILD and Texas A&M Health are deploying clinics across rural Texas—expanding access to primary and behavioral health care in communities that have long gone without.
Our BUILD Clinics
Each container clinic is designed, built and outfitted by BUILD students, then placed and operated in partnership with Texas A&M Health, local officials and regional health providers. The result: fully functional clinics that connect Texans to both in-person and telehealth services—meeting people where they are.
Kenedy County
The Texas Aggie Medical Clinic in Sarita now offers primary and telebehavioral care through a partnership among Texas A&M Health, the Texas A&M Telehealth Institute and the Community Action Corporation of South Texas.
Jeff Davis County
In far West Texas, another clinic provides both telemedicine and tele-counseling services in collaboration with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and local leaders.
Washington County
The Burton - Southern Clinic—named for Dr. Charles Everett Southern—provides telemedicine and tele-counseling services in collaboration with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and local organizations.
Meeting the Need at Home
More than half of Texas' counties are considered medically underserved. In many small towns, residents must travel hours to see a doctor or mental health professional.

What began as a global service project is now helping improve health outcomes right here at home. With each new clinic, Texas A&M Health and BUILD demonstrate how innovation, collaboration and selfless service can change lives—whether across the world or across the county line.
