Important Definitions:


A Visiting Scholar is an individual employed or affiliated with another organization who has been invited and approved by Texas A&M to come to the campus for an extended period of time to collaborate on specific research, clinical, or other scholarly activities.

A Visitor is an individual who1) is accompanied by authorized university personnel; 2) do not need access to facilities or resources; 3) is not performing “hands-on” research or teaching; and 4) is visiting only for a short duration of time (approximately 10 days) and is not considered to be a Visiting Scholar. Examples of these visits include campus tours, conferences, collaboration meetings, presentation of a paper, etc.

Visitor TAMU Wireless Access

A Sponsored Guest is an individual whose activities support official Health Science Center business. Their access is contingent upon verifying the identity of the requester and the validity of their need for a NetID, ensuring that the request is legitimate, and that the requester has a justifiable need for access.

Guest accounts must be sponsored by a university faculty or staff employee.

Guest accounts needed for longer than a year must be renewed annually.

International Collaborations must be approved through the Texas A&M University Office of Research Security to ensure adherence to university and federal requirements.

Note: If a Sponsored Guest has been terminated, left the university, or does not require a Sponsored Texas A&M guest account any longer, please send that request in an email to Identity Management at identity@tamu.edu.
