Biography
In partnership with the Director for Learning in Practice, Helene Phu serves as the Program Manager for this programmatic pillar. The vision for this emerging program is to provide interprofessional student teams with advanced, competency-level learning experiences while serving the needs of various communities across the state. Ms. Phu's responsibilities include planning, designing, and implementing interprofessional educational initiatives while liaising with faculty, administrators, students, and external partners.
Ms. Phu also supports IPER's Faculty & Preceptor Engagement programmatic pillar. For this initiative, she is responsible for identifying and implementing programmatic content and promoting systemic change to further support faculty and preceptors as they engage in IPE.
Ms. Phu’s work experiences include obstetrics, gynecologic oncology, clinical research, and academia. Her recent work experience includes interprofessional education, simulation, faculty development, accreditation, and quality improvement. She is certified as a health-care simulation educator, TeamSTEPPS trainer, and IPE Facilitator. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University, a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Houston, and a graduate certificate in integrating innovative technologies in health science education from the University of Houston.
