Biography
Cortney has over 5.5 years of experience in healthcare simulation, beginning in September 2019 as a Program Coordinator for the Texas A&M University College of Medicine pre-clerkship department. In that role, she served as the lead coordinator for the Practice of Medicine (PoM) courses, supporting undergraduate medical students in their formative and summative simulation activities. Collaborating closely with the Simulation & Immersive Learning Center and faculty, Cortney helped plan and implement simulation coordination, pre-briefings, pre-work preparation, and debriefing sessions.
In 2022, Cortney transitioned to the Texas A&M Simulation & Immersive Learning Center, first as a Standardized Patient (SP) Coordinator, then as SP Program Manager, and now serves as the Manager of Human Simulation Programs. During this time, she advanced simulation expertise by earning the Fundamentals of SP Methodology Certification from ASPE, completing Southern Illinois University School of Medicine’s Training and Using Standardized Patients for Teaching and Assessment workshop, and participating in multiple simulation-focused conferences.
In the current role, Cortney oversees and supports the standardized patient, physical exam teaching associate, and gynecological/male urogenital teaching associate programs. Working closely with each program manager, she ensures alignment with simulation Standards of Best Practice (SOBP) while maintaining and enhancing the quality and standardization of programs across all CLRC sites.
