Biography
Dr. McClanahan has been actively involved in healthcare simulation since 2011, where he served as one of two coordinators and faculty members at The F. Marie Hall SimLife Center at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. From 2015 to 2024, he was the Director and faculty member of the simulation program at Texas State University. He currently serves as the Director of the Simulation & Immersive Learning Center (Sim Center) at Texas A&M Health.
Dr. McClanahan has held numerous leadership roles within the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, including service on the Internal Relations Committee, as an IMSH content reviewer and co-lead, SimOps content team reviewer, and as Chair of the Directors of Simulation Centers Special Interest Group.
He has authored multiple textbook chapters on simulation and has delivered numerous podium and poster presentations.
Dr. McClanahan has led three large, interprofessional simulation programs across Texas. In his roles as coordinator and director, he has planned, facilitated, and evaluated interprofessional simulation experiences for learners in medicine, nursing, physical therapy, pharmacy, respiratory care, EMT/paramedic, and other healthcare disciplines. Additionally, he has served as a co-investigator on numerous simulation research projects, securing over $985,000 in grant funding.
