About Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives

Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives provides strategic leadership and creates partnerships across the Health Science Center and university to positively impact the health of Texas communities. The department manages the institution’s community-facing components and initiatives including the Coastal Bend Health Education Center, the South Texas Center, TexVet and Healthy South Texas/Healthy Texas. These programs serve as platforms to engage community members, and leverage the strength and influence these efforts have on the health and well-being of Texans. The department works with a diverse group of academicians, clinicians and community stakeholders to identify and evaluate innovative programs in health promotion and chronic disease management with the goal of improving population health.
