Oversight of research with biohazardous materials, recombinant DNA, or biological toxins at the Health Science Center (HSC) is through Texas A&M University's (TAMU's) Office of Biosafety and the Institutional Biohazard Committee (IBC).  The HSC maintains compliance with the  biosafety program for all faculty, staff and students who may be exposed to biological hazards during performance of their duties or activities.  The program is designed to achieve and maintain regulatory compliance as well as provide a way for researchers and the public to be informed and protected from biohazards.

TAMU specifically establishes and implements policies that provide for the safe conduct of biological and recombinant DNA research and that ensure compliance.
