IHI Student Chapter-Round Rock

IHI Healthfair Round Rock

The Texas A&M University Health Science Center Round Rock Student Chapter of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) hosted the inaugrual health fair at Union Hill Elementary in Round Rock, Texas. This interprofessional health fair was organized and led by College of Medicine and College of Nursing students with faculty from both colleges in attendance as well. The coaches, other teachers, counselors and administration at Union Hill Elementary were instrumental in the success of the fair, and the IHI is thankful for their support and collaboration. Our A&M students interacted with 850 elementary school children during healthy activities to promote wellness throughout the day. That same evening, the parents' portion of the fair took place with the help of vendors from the Texas Medical Association, Sacred Heart Community Clinic, Williamson County Health District, Lone Star Circle of Care and the Round Rock Area Service Center. Forty-eight adults utilized the blood pressure, glucose monitoring and BMI screening our A&M students offered.
