IPER Mission

The mission of the Office of Interprofessional Education & Research is to:

  • provide faculty and students with transformative interprofessional learning experiences that support the development of skills needed for patient-centered, collaborative practice;
  • advance research and scholarly activity of Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice; and
  • advance the practice of effective and efficient interprofessional team-based care to improve individual patient and population health outcomes.

This mission is aligned with the Health Science Center's mission, which is to provide “excellence in education, discovery, clinical care and health promotion” and to establish a culture of interprofessional education across all colleges and facilitate the development of interdisciplinary programs that will enhance diversity and encourage cultural competence. IPER’s mission is further aligned with the broader university mission, which is to deliver “the highest quality undergraduate and graduate programs” and foster “new understandings through research and creativity” as well as the three strategic imperativesor “pillars,” outlined by Texas A&M University President Michael K. Young:  transformational learning, discovery and innovation, and impact.
