Education and Qualifications

Fischer serves the Health Science Center as an environmental health & safety specialist. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas A&M University and has over 25 years of laboratory and laboratory safety experience. Fischer began her career at Texas A&M University as a student worker and has worked in various departments throughout the years including TAMU EHS. Other state service includes the Texas Department of Agriculture. During her time with TAMU EHS, Fischer advanced from an environmental safety technician to environmental safety supervisor. Fischer's professional experience includes supervision of the TAMU Laboratory Safety Program; safety inspections for chemical laboratories, chemical storage areas, BSL1 and 2 facilities, and radiological laboratories; Tier II chemical inventory reporting; building plan review for safety equipment installation; develop/revise/teach Hazard Communication, Laboratory Safety, General Radiation, and Vet School Radiation training classes; design of safety newsletters and chemical fact sheets; interaction with Texas A&M faculty, staff, and students in order to promote and encourage a safety conscious working and learning environment.

Specialty Training/Board Certifications

Fischer is a certified Diversity Training Professional (Community of Respect Cross-Cultural Training Program). She has also received training in 40 hour HAZWOPER for Clean-up Operations and DOT 49 CFR/IATA Training for shipment of Dangerous Goods, Radioactive Materials, and Infectious Substances.
