Education and Qualifications

Eaker serves the Health Science Center as the Laboratory Safety Manager. Eaker holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Texas A&M University. Prior to joining the Health Science Center in April 2012, Eaker worked for the Geochemical and Environmental Research Group at Texas A&M University, first as a technician and then as a research assistant. She moved to Texas A&M's Environmental Health & Safety Department in 2003, advancing from environmental safety technician to environmental safety supervisor. Eaker's professional experience has included Laboratory Safety Program management, administration of chemical inventory programs, as well as conducting Hazard Communication Training. She also has experience in the research compliance and biosafety arenas performing biological safety inspections for BSL1, 2, and 3 facilities. In addition, Eaker served as a member of the Texas A&M University Laboratory Safety Committee and has experience in hazardous materials response.

Specialty Training/Board Certifications

Eaker has received training in Hazardous Materials Emergency Response (HAZWOPER), DOT 49 CFR Hazardous Materials Regulations, and IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.
