Education and Qualifications
Cristina serves the Health Science Center as an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist at the Temple and Round Rock Campuses. Cristina holds her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Texas A&M University and a Master of Public Health with an emphasis in Environmental and Occupational Health Science from University of Texas School of Public Health. Prior to joining Texas A&M Health Science Center Cristina worked at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center studying lung cancer research. In 2009, she moved to the UT Health Science Center in Houston and worked as a Biological Safety Specialist. While working at UT Health Science Center, she expanded her experience in laboratory safety overseeing labs with chemical, biological and radioactive hazards. Cristina has experience with BSL1, 2, and 3 facilities. She is a member of the American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) and a member of Delta Omega.
Specialty Training/Board Certifications
Cristina has been trained in 10 hour OSHA General Industry, 24 hour HAZWOPER, FEMA Incident Management System, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, and IATA Infectious Substances Shipping.
