Symposium Details

Interprofessional Education invites faculty, staff, students and community partners to attend this year’s event, which will focus on the continuum of eating disorders. Eating disorders are complex illnesses that require an interprofessional treatment approach. Plan to participate in this day-long event, which last year included more than 400 participants.

The event will feature:

  1. a poster session focused on interprofessional topics, with preference for those who address some aspect of eating disorders;
  2. interprofessional experts who will address the topic of eating disorders from disciplinary and team-based perspectives; and
  3. interprofessional learning activities for students in dentistry, medicine, nursing, nutrition, pharmacy, psychology and public health.

Why Eating Disorders?

Did you know? National surveys estimate that 20 million women and 10 million men in America will have an eating disorder at some point in their lives. Eating disorders have close connections to substance abuse, trauma, obesity, and other mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
