April 2018: CHI St. Joseph Health Partnership

Colleagues,

I’m excited to share that today we announced a strengthened partnership between CHI St. Joseph Health and Texas A&M University Health Science Center.

Together we have created a co-branded primary care network aimed at improving access to health care for the Brazos Valley community while also training future clinicians.

Texas A&M and CHI St. Joseph Health have served the Brazos Valley for 141 years and 82 years respectively. Our two organizations share many of the same values, including respect or reverence, excellence, integrity and a shared mission to serve the community.

Texas A&M College of Medicine and CHI St. Joseph Health have worked together for over 20 years in an education partnership. Today we have reaffirmed that relationship with the addition of a new clinical partnership. This aligns with our Texas A&M commitment to rural population health and will provide an invaluable education platform within a values-based organization for our students.

An added benefit of the collaboration, Texas A&M University System employees and their families will have a significant reduction in health insurance costs, through new, lower-cost voluntary options in their network benefits plan across the Brazos Valley. The Texas A&M Systems benefits office will provide more information about these options in June.

I encourage you to visit Vital Record to read our feature story on this strengthened partnership, and to learn more at http://chi.tamuhealth.org.

Thanks,
Carrie L. Byington, MD
