Discover DSRIP includes a list of 12 DSRIP health care providers implementing 40 projects throughout RHP 8’s service area. For each provider, we highlight some of the following:

    Expanded Access to Care

    Project Description

    Provide expansive array of outpatient behavioral health services to low-income, rural areas in Taylor and surrounding counties.

    Spotlights:


    48 Hour Observation Unit

    Project Description

    Implement an involuntary and voluntary 48-Hour Extended Observation Unit in Georgetown for rapid access to stabilizing crisis services.


    Child Crisis Respite

    Project Description

    Implement a specialized crisis respite program to help youth in crisis, diverting them from admission to hospitals or juvenile justice facilities.

    Project Description

    Provide crisis assessment, referral, and short-term stabilization to those needing crisis services located in Burnet County.


    Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment

    Project Description

    Establish outpatient substance abuse treatment sites in Georgetown, Marble Falls and Round Rock.

    Project Description

    Provide peer-led transitional housing and services to individuals with mental health challenges referred from crisis services, criminal justice system, inpatient settings, and the community who are at risk of homelessness.

    Project Description

    Reduce use of emergency services by individuals identified as high utilizers.


    Intellectual and Development Disabilities (IDD)

    Project Description

    Provide intensive wrap around services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

    Project Description

    Provide screening, assessment, and case management for youth and adults arrested or incarcerated in Burnet and Williamson counties.

    Telehealth Services

    Project Description

    Implement telemedicine to provide clinically appropriate treatment as indicated by a psychiatrist or other qualified provider throughout Mills and San Saba counties. Thus, reducing unnecessary emergency department use, and improving consumer satisfaction and access where previously limited or unavailable.

    School-Based Services

    Project Description

    Provide school-based behavioral health services for children, kindergarten-5th grade.

    Autism Spectrum/Group Social Skills - Breakthru Central

    Project Description

    Implement group social skills training for persons diagnosed with high-functioning Autism or Asperger's disorder in Bell County.

    Crisis Respite

    Project Description

    Provide 24/7 residential-based crisis respite, transitional living, and supportive day services to persons with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) who have experienced a crisis.


    Organizational Capacity

    Project Description

    Improve the efficiency of clinical service operations through improved technology increasing providers’ capacity.


    Chronic Health Management for Persons with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI)

    Project Description

    Provide education, training, and support to persons with SPMI having chronic health conditions due to prolonged psychiatric medicine use.

    Project Description

    Co-locate sexually transmitted disease education, testing, and treatment for adults and adolescents with SPMI in Temple and Killeen.

    Note: Project has been discontinued by Provider beginning DY6. 


    Day Services

    Project Description

    Provide supportive day services to adults with SPMI recently discharged from a psychiatric hospital or jail, or in crisis.


    Autism Spectrum – Breakthru Finishline

    Project Description

    Provide work adjustment training to patients with high-functioning or Asperger's disorder in Bell County.

    Jail Diversion

    Project Description

    Provide trained law enforcement officers to assess the behavioral health of someone involved in a minor criminal event, and to direct that person to behavioral health services instead of the criminal justice system.

    Co-Occurring Disorders

    Project Description

    Implement co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorder services (COPSD) in Blanco and Llano counties in order to meet the needs of individuals with psychiatric and substance use issues locally; thus, reducing ED utilization, impatient utilization, and incarceration.


    Trauma Informed Care

    Project Description

    Provide trauma informed care services in Blanco and Llano counties to meet the need of individuals who experience trauma that is impacting their behavioral health (BH).


    Virtual Consultations

    Project Description

    Implement psychiatric and clinical guidance 24/7 for primary care physicians and hospitals in Blanco and Llano counties to help physicians identify and treat BH symptoms earlier to avoid exacerbation of symptoms into a BH crisis.


    Whole Health Peer Support

    Project Description

    Provide Whole Health Peer Support services in Blanco and Llano counties to meet the overall health needs of individuals who exhibit BH issues.

    Veteran Services

    Project Description

    Enhance veteran mental health services in the Blanco and Llano counties to meet the overall health needs of veterans dealing with BH issues. Project expands current peer support services for veterans and their family members who need comprehensive, community-based, wrap-around BH services.

    Primary Care Expansion

    Project Description

    Increase primary care access by hiring additional staff, increasing clinic hours and establishing school-based clinics to provide earlier diagnosis of chronic and life-threatening diseases reducing emergency department visits.

    Project Description

    Increase specialty care access by expanding the number of specialty providers, and promoting breast, cervical and colorectal screening and diagnostic services for low income and uninsured individuals.

    Emergency Services

    Project Description

    Apply continuous process improvement strategies guided by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement Model to identify causes of avoidable EMS and emergency department utilization, prioritize potential solutions, and conduct Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA) cycles.

    Patient Navigation

    Project Description

    Provide patient navigation and selected chronic illness supports for a target group of people who are beneficiaries of the Bell County Indigent Care Program, Medicaid, and/or participating hospitals' charity care programs.

    Primary Care Expansion

    Project Description

    Expand existing primary care capacity to provide patients with increased access to primary care services in Bell County by collaborating with the Greater Killeen Free Clinic.

    Patient Navigation

    Project Description

    Implement a patient navigation system to connect indigent and uninsured patients to primary care or medical homes in order to reduce emergency department utilization and provide cost effective, timely, and site appropriate healthcare services.

    Primary Care Expansion

    Project Description

    Expand availability of primary care services to the low income, uninsured residents in Williamson County.

    Primary Care Expansion

    Project Description

    Expand capacity of access to preventive clinical care through availability of same day or next day appointments by increasing the level of healthcare professionals and extended hours at one local health clinics located in Cedar Park, Round Rock, Taylor, and Georgetown. This differs from the St. David’s Access2Care program which focuses on acute care for individuals under the 200% federal poverty line.


    Community Paramedicine

    Project Description

    Implement Community Paramedicine in rural communities which will increase access to proactive healthcare and decrease the overuse of EMS for non-emergent events.

    Project Description

    Enhance and improve the quality and consistency of public health REAL (race, ethnicity, gender, and language) client demographic data collection and interpretation ensuring health disparities are addressed appropriately.


    Patient Navigation

    Project Description

    Provide navigation services to under/uninsured persons with targeted chronic conditions or pregnancy to prevent hospital admissions and readmissions.

    Health Education Classes

    Project Description

    Promote preventive health awareness by offering health education classes, eligibility assistance, and case management, specifically for women of childbearing age, with a high incidence rate of frequent hospitalizations for chronic conditions, and/or in need of prenatal care.

    Project Description

    Implement innovative evidence-based strategies to reduce and prevent obesity in children and adolescents (Get Fit, Get Health, Get Movin’ program - "G3").
