Centers and institutes in the Health Science Center are administratively distinct units whose primary foci are on collaborative, multidisciplinary-interdisciplinary research and other scholarly activities, as well as advanced graduate training in biomedical, translational, and public health science. Centers and institutes benefit the Health Science Center, as well as affiliated institutions, by facilitating interaction between colleagues with similar and/or complementary research and other scholarly interests.
The Texas A&M Health Science Center supports a number of research programs and centers primarily through its colleges and schools. Larger institutional programs and institutes are generally administered centrally through the Office of the Vice President for Research.
The creation and review of centers and institutes is governed by TAMHSC Guideline 11.02.99.Z1.01.
