Electronic Resources
Accessing Electronic Resources:
This is your guide to the electronic resources available to you while visiting us here at the Texas A&M Health Science Center. All of your electronic resources can be accessed using your NetID (Neo Username).
During this short tutorial you will be guided through:
- Activating your NetID
- Browsing electronic journals
- Accessing the Library Portal
- Accessing PubMed Journals
Activating Your NetID
You can activate your NetID at the NEO webpage (http://neo.tamu.edu/). Click the "Activate your NetID" link on the mainpage to start the activation process. You will need your Universal Identification Number (UIN) and birth date to activate your account. Once you have entered your UIN and birth date you will be prompted to create a NetID and password. This is a unique username that you will use to log in to all of your electronic resources. You will then create a password to use with your NetID.
Once you have created your NetID and password you can now access your Texas A&M E-mail account.
Browsing Electronic Journals
Your NetID not only allows your access your Texas A&M E-mail account, but it also gives your access to electronic journals through the Library webpage. CHIRON is the Medical Sciences Library (MSL) on-line catalog to all electronic resources. This will be the best way to browse all that the MSL offers.
Accessing The Library Portal
The Library Portal is a useful profiled tool that the library uses to track all of your library activity. Here you can setup and edit your "My Portal" profile. "My Portal" will keep track of all the resources you have checked out from the library and any over due fines you may have incurred. It will also allow you to organize any electronic resources you may want to keep track of over a long period of time. To login to the Library Portal go to Http://library.tamu.edu/ and click on "My Portal." For this login you will need your newly created NetID and password.
Accessing PubMed Journals
One of the most popular online catalogs for accessing medical journals is PubMed. PubMed is offered by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and can be accessed here.
