The Office of Information Technology offers many resources for students at all TAMHSC locations. From technical support to self-help tutorials, OIT can help you access tools to make your life easier. More about OIT.

  • Password Management - Find out how to select strong passwords and change your password when necessary.
  • myHSC - myHSC is a secure Intranet where students can check e-mail, register for courses, get the latest campus news and explore the Internet. It also allows access the Blackboard learning management system that is necessary for essential coursework. New students need to register their TAMHSC account by visiting my.tamhsc.edu. Before logging in, clicking the link under the login box to register their TAMHSC account. In subsequent visits to the site, only a Username and Password are required.
  • E-mail Access - Students can access e-mail through Outlook at webmail.tamhsc.edu or through the myHSC portal after login. For information on how to set up Outlook on your laptop, visit OIT tutorials and click on the Configuring E-mail and Calendars link.
  • Password Reset Tutorial - The Office of Information Technology has a password reset tool that enables you to reset your password 24 hours a day/7 days a week. We strongly urge you to register for the tool, as it may save you headaches in the future.
  • Blackboard Learning Management System - Blackboard Learn is an online learning environment that opens doors for learners, educators and administrators. For a specific course, the learning management system can contain essential coursework, class notes, study guides and homework assignments. Quizzes and exams can also be administered through the system.
  • OIT Fully Supported Software, Hardware and Mobile Devices - Some components recommend student laptop purchases through TAMHSC, and all are fully supported by OIT. Limited support is offered for laptops obtained from other sources as long as they have not reached their End of Life.  Please contact your local IT Support Services technician if you have questions.
  • Virus Protection and Other Best Practices - The Office of Information Technology assists with virus protection and requires you to have an ACTIVELY scanning virus solution that is automatically updated if you are plugged into the network. It is vital in protecting not only your data but also the integrity of all data and computers on the TAMHSC network.
  • Wireless Network - The OIT network group maintains a robust wireless data network throughout our campuses. This network provides mobile access to the Internet, including computing resources at TAMHSC and throughout the world. Based on 802.11a/b/g technology, the wireless data network is constantly being expanded and improved to meet changing demands.
  • Virtual Private Network -This solution provides secure connections to the campus network, allowing an increase in service to remote users without compromising the security of the campus firewall.
  • Google Apps - OIT is pleased to offer Google Apps as a service to faculty, staff and students of TAMHSC. Google Apps includes a suite of tools that can serve to ease information exchange, promote collaboration and increase efficiency.
  • Discounted Software - As a student of TAMHSC, you may purchase discounted software at software.tamu.edu. You will need to login with your active directory Username and Password and choose your location in order to access the site.
