SMTP Relay

Skip breadcrumb navigation

The Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is an Internet protocol used to transfer email messages between servers. The networking group maintains three SMTP relay servers used to act as a gateway for email to pass through our firewall. They are the first line of defense, blocking spam and harmful viruses contained in your email. Email that passes through these severs will then be delivered to your Microsoft Exchange accounts.

  Server Name
Primary mx1.tamhsc.edu
Secondary

mx2.tamhsc.edu

Tertiary

mx3.tamhsc.edu

These servers not only process incoming mail, but serve for outgoing relay servers. If you are checking your email using IMAP or POP, you may need to setup an outgoing SMTP server. If you have a TAMHSC user account, you may point your host to one of the server above using your login username and password.
