Networking

Skip breadcrumb navigation

The primary mission of the Networking Group is to ensure the correct and efficient operation of the campus network, while maintaining its integrity and security. The Networking Group strives to maintain a network infrastructure that has the flexibility to meet demands while at the same time remaining capable of exploiting anticipated developments in technology to allow enhanced user services.

DNS

Domain Name System (DNS) is the name service for Internet addresses that translates friendly domain names to numeric Internet Protocol (IP) addresses.

Mailing Lists

The Mailing Lists provide list information for users of TAMHSC mailing lists along with List Administration for administrators of the mailing lists. Click on a list name to get more information about the list, or to subscribe, unsubscribe, and change the preferences on your subscription.

Network Time Protocol

The Network Time Protocol (NTP) is used to keep a computer's clock synchronized with a set of time servers distributed over a network, each with varying accuracy and reliability.

SMTP Relay

The Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is an Internet protocol used to transfer email messages between servers. The networking group maintains three SMTP relay servers used to act as a gateway for email to pass through our firewall.

VOIP

Take full advantage of converged voice and data networks while retaining the convenience and user-friendliness you expect from a business phone. Cisco Unified IP Phones can help improve productivity by meeting the needs of users throughout your organization. Advanced media endpoints in this innovative suite of Cisco Unified IP Phones enhance the end-user experience.

Virtual Private Network

This Virtual Private Network (VPN) solution provides secure connections to the campus network, allowing an increase in service to remote users without compromising the security of the campus firewall.

Wireless

The OIT network group maintains a robust wireless data network throughout our campuses. This network provides mobile access to the Internet, including computing resources at the HSC and throughout the world.
