HSC Logos

“Bringing Learning to Life”

The institutional insignia provides a graphic expression of the distinctive calling of the Texas A&M Health Science Center. In the lower part of the emblem, the open book symbolizes knowledge – not only the empirical and practical acuity that forms the foundation of professional education, but also the discoveries yet to be made. Concurrently, the book denotes the sound moral and ethical underpinnings of our institution and its aspirations.

Rising from the book’s pages is a symbol of our vital enterprise – the sharing of knowledge with others and the transferring of discoveries into life-altering techniques and technologies. The symbol –  evocative at one moment of the Caduceus, at another of the double-helix of DNA – climbs flame-like to suggest the zeal with which we pursue new understandings, share our wisdom, and devote ourselves  to improving lives in Texas, the nation and the world.

Identity Symbol

The logo for the Texas A&M Health Science Center includes three basic elements: the HSC symbol, the system name and the HSC name.

  • The size relationships between the various elements should not be changed. As any part of the symbol is enlarged or reduced, the entire symbol must be altered accordingly.
  • At no time should the symbol, letters or words be altered or distorted to achieve a special effect.
  • The HSC symbol may only appear alone if it is used with the system name and the HSC name elsewhere within the communication or as part of a comprehensive signage program.

The Symbol’s Environment

The HSC symbol is not to be combined with the seals or logos of any of its members or the HSC Legal Seal. The symbol should be seen in its entirety and should not be obscured by text or art. The symbol should always have a window of space around it, so that background colors or elements do not appear to be part of the HSC symbol. For more information on how to use the symbol within its environment, please refer to the Graphic Standards Manual at http://tamhsc.edu/communications/graphicstyleguide
